Spine Mri Features Of The Vacuum Phenomenon

Objective To observe the vacuum phenomenon with in spinal column and to summarize the MRI feature and to discuss its clinical significance. Methods The MRI features with vacuum phenomenon with in spinal column of 63 cases were analyzed by MRI formatter of SIMENS company.The different slice thick and gap were adopted when vertebral body and intervertebral discs of cervical vertebrae and thoracic vertebrae and lumbar vertebrae were scanned.Results The position of the vacuum phenomenon with in spinal column and the respective MRI features were summarized.The position in which the vacuum phenomenon generated was mostly in intervertebral discs.The common character was observed with signal void intensity shadow in corresponding site of spinal column.Conclusions The vacuum phenomenon with in different site of spinal column may reflect the character of degeneration of intervertebral disk, vertebra and lumbar intervertebral joint and osteoporosis of vertebral body and the change of trauma.The phenomenon has important clinical significance.
