Objective: The aims were to observe the activity of Glutathioneperoxidase(GSH-Px) and the change of telomere length in the liver of ratmodel with spleen Yang deficiency syndrome, and discuss the base ofmolecule biology of spleen Yang deficiency syndrome. Methods: The rat model of spleen Yang deficiency syndrome was establishedby the classical composite factors(overstrain, intemperance of takingfood and bitter cold medical herbs). The methods of chromatometry andSouthern blot were used to determine the activity of the GSH-Px andtelomere length in the liver.Result: Compared with the normal control, the activity of GSH-Px in theliver of rat model with spleen Yang deficiency syndrome was lower andtelomere length was shorten. Conclusion: The shortening of telomere length may be one ofpathomechanism of spleen Yang deficiency syndrome. The accumulation offree radical produced by the decrease of the antioxygen ability may damagethe telomere, and that may be one of the mechanisms of telomere shorteningin liver of rat model with spleen Yang deficiency syndrome.
