| The paper consists two parts: the summaries of documents and a clinical observation.There are two sumaries of documents. The first reriews the experimental and clinical research progress of the disease both in China and abroad in recent years. It includes the research of mechanism and treatment. The second reviews TCM treatment on DPN in recent years, including TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation with methods of exclusive TCM formula, the Chinese patent medicine, Acup & Moxibustion, ect.The clinical part is about to investigate the effect on treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) with Honghua acupoint injection(Honghua, Safflower,Flos Carthami). Methods: 65 DPN patients conforming to the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into two groups. On the basis of basic treatment, one group (33 DPN) was treated with Honghua acupoint injection(Honghua, Safflower,Flos Carthami) while the other group(32 DPN) with acupuncture only. And the changes in the symptoms, the speed of the nerve transformation, hemodynamics and the content of erythrocyte sorbitol before and after treatment were checked. The results showed that the total effective rate of the Honghua acupoint injection(Honghua, Safflower,Flos Carthami) group was 86.67% and the acupuncture group was 66.67% . Statistical analysis showed that there was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Meanwhile, Honghua acupoint injection(Honghua, Safflower,Flos Carthami) can ameliorate the symptoms such as extremital numbness, pain and paresthesia in various degrees in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy, adjust the haemorheological abnormity and degrade the content of erythrocyte sorbitol. The results of electromyography showed a marked improvement in conduction velocities and coherence. Conclusion: The effect of treating DPN by Honghua acupoint injection(Honghua, Safflower,Flos Carthami) is significant. |
