ObjectiveTo analyse the relationship between the outcome of coronary angiography (CAG) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome-type in the cases of chest stuffiness and pains. To investigate the relationship between the changes in outcome of coronary angiography (CAG), plasma lipid level , the level of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) and the type of syndrome-complex of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in unstable angina(UA).Methods126 patients who were diagnosed as chest stuffiness and pains were classified according to the theories at TCM and coronary angiography (CAG) and plasma lipid, C-Reactive Protein(CRP) were tested. Some patients were UA and others were excluded CHD by CAG.To reveal the correlation between TCM syndrome-type and outcome of CAG and plasma lipid, the level of CRP.Results(1) 126 inpatients in the cases of chest stuffiness and pains include 105 UA patients and 21 cases whose coronary artery were normal.105 inpatients in unstable angina include 28 retention of turbid, 41 stagnation of blood, the number of these types was the 65.72% of the summary of UA inpatient.(2) In the case of multi-branches lesion, the patients of retention of turbid and blood-stasis syndrome were significantly more than those in other groups (P<0.05), while the patients were less in the group of Qi and Yin deficiency and Yin deficiency in the heart and kidney. It was 38.10% of the patients of the Qi-stagnation and blood-stasis syndrome and it was significantly more than other groups among the artery coronary normal cases.(3) There were significant differences between each two groups(P<0.01) for the outcome of the artery coronary lesion in 8 groups of UA. The highest Gensini score in CAG was the group of yin-cold stagnation syndrome, the least was the group of Qi-stagnation and blood-stasis syndrome.(4) The significant difference was found in the level of CPR in 8 groups of UA(P<0.01). The highest level of CPR was the group of retention of turbid, stagnation of blood in the heart. The level of CRP in the type of stagnation of blood in the heart, retention of turbid were higher than those in other groups (P<0.05).(5) The level of TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C were significantly different between every two groups(P<0.01) in 8 groups of UA. The highest level of TG was the group of retention of turbid. The level of TC and LDL-C in the group of retention of turbid, stagnation of blood in the heart were higher than that in the other groups, while the level of HDL-C was lower. The level of TG increased compared with that in the normal group in group of stagnation of blood in the heart, Qi-stagnation and blood-stasis syndrome, Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome, while the level of the HDL-C decreased in the group of the Qi-stagnation and blood-stasis syndrome and Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome.Conclusions(1) The type of retention of turbid, stagnation of blood in the heart were most common in UA.(2) Some patients in the cases of chest stuffiness and pains were not coronary heart disease(CHD).(3) The normal of coronary angiography in the group of Qi-stagnation was usually found. On the contrary,multi-branches lesion in the retention of turbid and blood-stasis syndrome was often.(4) In UA,The most serious damage of the artery coronary was found in the group of yin-cold stagnation syndrome .It suggested the damage was due to the development of the Qi-stagnation, blood-stasis, phlegm-turbid.(5) There was the inflammatory reaction in UA.(6) There was some relationship among the phlegm-turbid, blood-stasis and inflammatory reaction. The increase of the CRP level could be used as one of the objective index to classify the type of retention of turbid or stagnation of blood in the heart.(7) Retention of turbid in the heart was the effective index that reflected the changes of the plasma lipid level, that suggested phlegm-turbid was closely associated with the plasma lipid level.
