BACKGROUND & AIM: Primary gallbladder carcinoma(PGC) shows an ascensus tendency in recent years. It's incidence ranks 5th in digestive system.Due to the lack of early symptoms and the fast advancement, most patients missed the chance of early diagnosis and operation. As the key point of improve prognosis is early diagnosis and operation. We report 102 cases of primary gallbladder carcinoma, and this article explored he epidemiology, the clinical characteristics, the progress of gene research , the operation and the prognosis, in order to provide quodvice for the clinical work.material & METHODS: The clinical data of 102 cases of primary gallbladder carcinoma, from Jan 2000 to Dec 2006, were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively, which were from the 2nd affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University . All cases were comfirmed by clinical or pathological examination.All patients were followed up. And the literatures were reviewedRESULT & CONCLUSIONS: Primary gallbladder carcinoma is a high grade malignant digestive tumor and its etiopathogenisis is unclear now. It is usually detected at an advanced stage due to no specific symptoms and rapid advancement.The clinical manifestation is mainly with abdominal pain,nausea and vomiting, jaundice,hepatic functional lesion.Imageological detection is valuable for early diagnosis.CA199 is the most specific and sensitive tumor marker for PGC.Radical resection Is generally accepted as the only way of curing. modus operandi of advanced stage patient is disputed.But the prognosis is depressed with a low survival rate.As aid therapy,chemotherapy and radiotherapy don't performed well.
