Diabetic Nephropathy(DN)refers to diabetic glomerulosclerosis. It is thedisturbance of carbohydrate metabolism relevant to diabetic special kidneycomplication, and is also one of the uppermost micrangium complications. Theclinical manifestation of DN is quite similar to renal diabetes and edema in thetraditional Chinese medicine document. The theory of Chinese medicine says thatif we have this disease for a long time, we will have deficiency of kidney-Yin anddecline of kidney-Yang, which can lead to edema and muddy urine that looks likefat.Under the instruction of the Chinese medicine theory, this paper researches ondiabetic nephropathy, further discusses the character of this disease, analyzes thecause and the pathogenesis, and makes clear the relations between syndrome andpattern of syndrome, in order to supply the proof for the dialectical therapy and toprove clinical curative effect. This paper consists of two parts which include two summaries of document anda clinical study. There are two summaries of document. The first one summarizes modernmedicine studies on diabetic nephropathy in the past ten years, including itsepidemic, pathogenic, pathologic studies, clinical manifestation, laboratoryexamination and treatment. The second one summarizes the knowledge of Chinesemedicine on diabetic nephropathy, including the name of the disease, pathogenicfactors, pathogenesis, diagnostic criterion, differentiation and treatment of commonsyndromes.Clinical research observes 200 diabetic nephropathy patients, applies SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) 11.0 to analyze with 74 cases of normalrenal function, 126 cases of abnormal renal function. According to differentcircumstances of the renal function, we divide them into two groups to study therelations between Chinese medicine of symptom, the pattern of syndrome and bloodpressure. The results:①The old are more susceptible to get diabetes nephropathy, andmale exceed female with the ratio of sufferers of 1.22:1 between them. At the age of70-79, the female proportion is obviously much than the male proportion, and thesegment of female proportion is a little more than or equal to male proportion for the other age groups. It often onsets in course of diabetic 11~20 year, occupying50% of sufferers under study.②The blood pressure of the diabetic and thedevelopment of diabetic nephropathy have obvious relevance.③Seeing fromconcomitant diseases and complicating diseases, above 70% diabetic nephropathypatients have high blood pressure diseases, 55% diabetic nephropathy patients havediabetic retinopathy and almost 50% diabetic nephropathy patients coronaryatherosclerotic heart disease. These diseases are frequent, the rest concomitantdiseases and complicating diseases are shown in order as follows: diabeticperipheral neuropathy, cerebrovascular disease, lipid metabolism disorder, adiposehepatica, urinary system infection, diabetic artherosclerosis obliteration, diabeticfoot, electrolyte disturbances and hyperuricacidemia.④Diabetic nephropathyhackneyed syndromes are heavy body and drowsiness (74%), tired and debilitation(70%), deficient breath (64%), yellow urine (64%), acid and soft waist and knee(60%), urinary frequency at night (59%).⑤The main single syndrome of diabeticnephropathy are syndrome of deficiency of QI,syndrome with yin asthenia,damp-heat syndrome, syndrome of blood stasis. According to the research, thehighest frequency deficient syndromes include defic- iency of QI, syndrome withYin asthenia and the highest frequent asthenia syndrome is damp-heat syndrome, with syndrome of blood stasis the second place. However, the syndrome of bloodstasis is the most severe, and this syndrome exists from the beginning to the end.
