Objective: To investigate the application of squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCC-Ag) as a tumor marker in the diagnosis and clinical monitor of the cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and the relationship between the serum SCC-Ag level and the biological characteristics: clinical stage, pathological grade, lymph node metastasis of the cervical cancer. Method: The serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCC-Ag) was measured by ELISA in 49 cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients,30 cervical cancer in situ(CIS) patients and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II-III(CINII-III) patients and 15 healthy women ,to analyze the clinical significance of SCC-Ag. The serum SCC-Ag also was measured in 17 of the cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients 3 months after the radical operation,4 tumor recurrence patients and 8 patients 6 months or more after operation without recurrence, to analyze the follow-up significance of SCC-Ag in the cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Results: The serum SCC-Ag levels in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix showed a sensitivity of 65.3% and a specificity of 91.1%.It increases with elevation of clinical stage(P<0.025),tumor invasive depth(P<0.005) and correlate with the metastasis of the lymph nodes(P<0.01).But there is no relationship between the serum SCC-Ag and the pathologic grade(P>0.1).All of the serum SCC-Ag in the 17 volunteer patients who followed 3months...
