[Background]Immune cytokines are recognized as pivotal mediums in the pathogenic mechanism of cerebral ischemic stroke. Animal experiments and clinical trials both show that the hypersecretion of inflammatory cytokines and their interplay participate in inflammatory reactions and injury in acute cerebral infarction. Diminishing inflammation treatment can enlarge the time slot of cerebral infarction. There is a great progress in Traditional Chinese Medical research on the acute cerebral infarction recently. However, reports about the relationship between Traditional Chinese Medical syndrome differentiation and cytokines in patients with acute cerebral infarction are less found. There is a lack of report about the relationship between the change of the interleukin-1 beta level and Traditional Chinese Medical syndrome differentiation.[Objective]This work aims to (1)find the relationship between the IL-1β content and the TCM syndrome differentiation in patients with acute cerebral infarction and exploring its orderliness; (2)explore the essence and substantial base of stroke of TCM differentiation.[Methods]32 patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) were divided into two groups: the fire-heat group (17) and the non-fire-heat group (15) . The contents of IL-1β in peripheral blood were measured by ELISA (enzyme linked immunobsorbent assay).
