Single Herb Astragalus Root To Improve Insulin Resistance Correlation Study Of The Impact Of Serum Uric Acid

Objective: to study effects of serum uric on relieving insulin resistance (IR) by the single Chinese traditional medicine of Radix astragali(RA) . Methods:Sixty grown Wistar rats were divided into 2 groups randomly:the normol groups (n=12) and model groups (n=48). The model rats were fed with high fat-sugar diet for 6 weeks, then fed with adenine(100mg/kg/d) and ethambutol (250mg/kg/d) for 2 weeks to induce the IR and hyperuricemia model. Fourty-eight successful model rats were divided into blank-model group, RA group, allopurinol group,RA+allopurinol group. Meanwhile to measure their serum uric acid(UA) . Fasting Plasma Glucose(FPG). Fasting Insulin(FINS) and Insulin Sensitivity Index(ISI) on 3 and 6 weeks . to observe UA level after RA on relieving insulin resistance .Results: (1) RA group could distinctly decrease FPG .FINS .UA level of insulin resistance (IR)+hyperuricemia model rats . (P<0. 05 vs P<0. 01) , and increase ISI level(P < 0.01 ) compare with blank-model group .(2) The effect of RA+allopurinol group was the most distinct to decrease UA level ( P<0.001) compare with blank-model group. (3) UA is in positive correlation with FPG and FINS after RA treatment (r=0. 62, P<0. 05;r=0. 66, P<0. 05) ;and in negative correlation with ISI (r=0.64, P<0.05) .Conclusion : (1) Radix astragali (RA) could improve the insulin resistance . (2) RA is effective in reducing serum uric acid in IR and hyperuricemia model rats. (3) RA+allopurinol is the most distinct in decreasing UA compared with RA or allopurinol . (4)UA is in correlation to increase ISI and reduce FPG. FINS after RA on relieving insulin resi stance (IR) . Therefore, IR is common significant pathophysiology foundation of multiple metabolic disease,' suchas:hyperuricemia diabetes mellitus. hypertension ,and so on ; Radix astragali(RA)can be a kind of good traditional medicine to improve the insulin resistance and IR-hyperuricemia.
