Sexually transmitted diseases(STDs) is the barrier of sanitation and epidemic prevention all over the world. The pathogens of STDs include epiphyte, virus, leptospira, etc. And HIV is the key of them. Nowadays the drugs which have been used in clinical are toxic and side-effect, so scientists put the emphasis on those which are less toxic, side-effect and cheap substitutes. It has proved that many Chinese traditional medicines presented the activity of anti-HIV. HIV manifests co-infection with the pathogens of STDs or the opportunistic pathogen in clinical so that it is important to avoid infecting other pathogens caused by the decline of human immunity when HIV is cured. It will be a ideal remedy for HIV and other pathogens. Some components of Chinese traditional medicines, such as sulfated polysacch- aride, alkaloid, flavone, coumarin, saponin presented diverse activity against HIV. Especially the sulfated polysaccharide has a lot of key activity such as antivirus, antibiosis, strengthen immunity and promote apoptosis of tumor ceil.Within our research, through microtiter dilution methods, Kirby-Bauer expansion and MTT, sulfated polysaccharide CS was screened from 24 effective components of traditional Chinese medicine to inhibit the pathogens of STDs, the opportunistic pathogen and HIV. It was no inhibition on Lactobacillus and immunocyte. Then physic-chemical characteristics of it were studied.1 , Through microtiter dilution methods, effective drugs against Ureaplasma urealyticum, Candida albicans were screened. Among 24 effective components, CS, N2 and notoginsenoside from Sanchi presented more effective inhibition on U. urealyticum and C. albicans. sulfated polysaccharide CS presented most effective inhibition, MIC is 0.31-2.5mg/ml, MIC50 is 0.62 mg/ml, MIC90 is 1.25mg/ml.2, Through Kirby-Bauer expansion methods, effective drugs against Es-cherichia coil, staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtil were screened. Among 24 effective components, smilax saponins, 730A and sulfated polysaccharide Q1presented more effective inhibition on E. coil, staphylococcus aureus and B.subtil. The inhibition zone is 17.0±0.23 mm, 10.8±0.36mm, 17.5±0.11mm.3 -> Through microtiter dilution methods, effective drugs against Lacto-bacillus were screened. Among 24 effective components, none of them appeared effective inhibition on Lactobacillus. The MIC, MBC of 306B, smilax saponins, sulfated polysaccharide CS, coumarin is above 50mg/mI.4> Through MTT methods, the high anti-HIV activity of products was confirmed. The experiment results display that the activity of sample of sulfated polysaccharide CS is superior to positive, AZT. At the same time their toxicity to cell is low. EC50IS 0.629Mg/ml, IC50 is above 900 and TI (Therapeutic index) is above 10000.5> Through lots of chemic method and instrument analysis, the characteristics of sulfated polysaccharide CS are studied. The results indicate that sulfated polysaccharide CS is an neutral polysaccharide composed by pyranyl monosaccharide, and molecular weight is 2.4xlO4 Da;CS is composed of three monosaccharides which are D-xylose, D-frucose, D-glucose, and the proportion of three monosaccharide is 3.15 '. 1 I 1.62;CS polysa- ccharide has three types of polysaccharide bond which are l-*6 (or non deoxidized terminal) , l-*4,1*3, and the proportion is 0.4 '. 0.3 '. 0.3.
