Furthermore, through contrast with methotrexate (MTX), try to find out the potential value of treatment for rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Methods Using the MTT method to measure the suck-light degree value(A) after using different doses of Tanâ…¡A and the same doses of Tanâ…¡A and MTX, and to count the inhibition rate(IR%); using the flow cytometry with PI staining to detect the changes of cell cycle of Hela cells after using different doses of Tanâ…¡A and the same doses of Tanâ…¡A and MTX.Results Tanâ…¡A and MTX can inhibit the growth of the Hela cells and the effect is dose-dependent. It makes A decreasing, which has statistic significance(p<0.001). And it makes IR% increasing. The number of IC50 of MTX is lower than Tanâ…¡A and the maximum inhibition rate of Tanâ…¡A is four times larger than MTX; Tanâ…¡A and MTX can change the cell cycle and the effect is enhanced with the increasing of the drug doses(p<0.005). They both act in S phase. They can decrease cells of S phase and increase cells of G0/G1 phase. There is no statistic diference between the effects of Tanâ…¡A and MTX on cell cycle at the same doses(p>0.05).Conclusion Tanâ…¡A and MTX can inhibit the cell proliferation of Hela cells and the effect is dose-dependent. And the potency of MTX is higher than Tanâ…¡A. And the maximum efficacy of Tanâ…¡A is larger than MTX. Tanâ…¡A and MTX can change the cell cycle and both act in S phase. They can increase cells of S phase and decrease cells of G0/G1 phase. They have the same effect on cell cycle at the same doses.
