Myristica fragrans Houtt has been prescribed in Chinese medicine for a long time. Many papers have reported the studies of the chemical constituents from the aril and the seed kernels of Myristica fragrans Houtt and the basic researches on the pharmacological action and the clinical use.Modern pharmacological studies demonstrated that the extracts of Myristica fragrans Houtt have potent antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,inhibiting the platelet aggregation action. Gerenally, the processed products of Myristica fragrans Houtt are used in clinic. There are many processing methods, such as roasting with wheat bran, wet paper, frostlike making, and so on.It was considered that the original intention of processing was all to endance the effects for a long time. In recent years, the saying of detoxicating was raised after clarifying its toxic constituent was myristicin. In the preceding periods, to further clarify the principle of processing and the variety of components before processing and after processing, our term had studied the variety of volatile components by various modern scientific methods, such as TLC-Scanning, GC-MS, HPLC, and so on.In a continuation of our work on further clarifying the variety of non-volatile componen ts, further phytochemical work on this plant was carried out in this paper. This project was the part of the project which was supported by innovation medicines and modernization of Chinese Traditional medicines of national 10th five-years key program foundation(NO.2001BA 701 A55-29).The seed kernels of Myristica fragrans Houtt extracted with petroleum was extracted with 75% ethanol(φ). The various solvent extraction together with column-chromatography, preparative TLC and Sephadex-LH20 were used for the isolation of chemical constituents, and fifteen compounds were obtained.By means of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis, these compounds were identified as (±)-dehydrodiisoeugenol(1), (+)-licarin-B(2), 2-(5-metho xy-3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-7-methoxy-3-methyl-(1(E)-propenyl)benzofuran(3), 5'-methoxydehydrodiisoeugenol(4), 1-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-allyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenox y)propan-1-ol(5), dehydrodieugenol(6), guaiacin(7), myristicin(8), elemicin(9), methoxyeugenol (10), isovanillin(11), isoquiritigenin(12), protocatechuic acid(13), β-sitosterol(14), daucosterol(15) respectively.Compound 11 was isolated from Myristica genus for the first time and Compounds 12, 13 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The variety of non-volatile components before processing and after processing was analysed...
