Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Low - molecular - weight Heparins Calcium (LMWH) in preventing deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after lower extremity operation. Methods From June 2004 to December 2005, selected 60 patients after lower extremity operation . they were randomized performed into two groups, one was controlled without any prophylaxis, and another group received LWMH prophylaxis. All groups had Duplex ultrasound test and D- Dimmer test to detect DVT, on the other hand all patients had blood routine text and thrombomin text to evaluate if hemorrhage among two weeks post operation. Result 6(20% ) patients developed DVT with included 1 Pulmonary Embolism (PE) in controlled group , non patient developed DVT in LWMH group . it had statistics significant (P<0.05) compared to the controlled group ,and in LWMH group there was not any bleeding complication. Conclusions LWMH can significant reduce the incidence of DVT after lower extremity fracture operation.
