Objective: Under the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, we probe into pathogeny and syndrome patterns of functional dyspepsia (FD), and try to find the relationship between FD and psychological disorders. To summarize orderliness of discrimination through analyzing pertinency between FD and psychological disturbances. Methods: FD group (100 cases) and control group (100 cases) which is random selected from population were interviewed by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). A general questionnaire of TCM symptom study was given to each subject of FD. Compare the psychological disorders of the two groups, and then analyze the difference among syndrome patterns and psychological disturbances of FD group. Results: The prevalence of psychological disturbances in FD group differed significantly from that in control group. HAMD and HAMA of FD are significantly higher than that of control group.Stagnancy of liver qi and attack on stomach liver qi have more depression and anxiety. Stagnancy of liver qi and spleen deficiency have more symptoms than other syndrome patterns. Conclusion: There is a link between FD and psychological disturbances. Age education, HAMD, HAMA and symptom have some pertinency. Psychological disturbances which decide HAMD and HAMA do not have obvious relationship with illness. Some diseases may aggravate psychological symptoms of FD patients.
