| Diabetes is very similar to its TCM counterpart, namely"Xiaokebing."The typical cause of xiaokebing is the depletion of yin-jin, and the relative rise of dry-heat in the body. This thesis mainly focuses on yin-deficiency syndrome (single syndrome) of diabetes to carry out a clinical symptomatological research.PURPOSE: This evidence-based clinical research of yin-deficiency syndrome of diabetes inquires into the connection between yin-deficiency syndrome of diabetes and the complications that accompany diabetes, the relationship between different syndromes of diabetes such as yin-deficiency and dry-heat, the correlation between yin-deficiency syndrome and its related laboratory test results in order to prompt its cause and progress.METHOD: Divide 110 case studies of diabetes into one group of 70 cases of yin-deficiency and another group of 40 cases of non-yin-deficiency. Then, observe laboratory results for blood pressure, blood glucose level, blood lipoprotein level, blood coagulation, standard blood tests, standard urine tests, etc for the two respective groups. Use clinical epidemiology and mathematical statistical methods to analyze any regular pattern between YINXU syndrome of diabetes and its related complications; connection between yinxu, dry-heat and/or other TCM syndromes; connection between yinxu syndrome and relative laboratory test resultsRESULT: (1) there exists no clear relationship between whether diabetes is caused yinxu syndrome or not, and whether diabetes complications such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, etc. exist or not(2) there is no clear relationship between whether diabetes is caused by yinxu syndrome or not, and whether dry-heat syndrome exists or not; whether diabetes is caused by yinxu syndrome or not, and whether deficiency of blood, and deficiency of yang, and other syndromes exist or not.(3) there is a clear relationship between whether diabetes is caused by yinxu syndrome or not, and its relative laboratory test outcomes for PT and APTT. There is no clear relationship between whether diabetes is caused by yinxu syndrome or not, and other laboratory tests such as GHB, GSP, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, APO-A1, APO-B, FIB/FB.CONCLUSION: (1)yinxu syndrome is commonly seen in simple diabetes cases, its related complications, and any accompanied illness. This explains that yinxu syndrome may be involved in any one stage during the onset and the progress.(2) A definite relationship between whether yinxu syndrome exists or not, and whether dry-heat syndrome exists or not explains that these two particular syndromes influence one another. It is a superficial-deep-deficiency-excess relationship.(3) there is a definite relationship between whether yinxu syndrome exists or not, and... |
