OBJECTIVE To detect the relation between the operation of PVP and adjacent vertebral fracture. METHOD Evaluate the literatures published from 1966 to 2006 which concerned on percutaneous vertebroplasty and adjacent vertebral fracture. After checking the consistency between the admitted literatures, OR and its 95%CI were calculated. And also, the disparity between the time of adjacent and non-adjacent vertebral fracture was evaluated. RESULT Associativity between PVP and adjacent vertebral fracture was confirmed, with OR 2.09, 95%CI (1.1-4.25). Adjacent vertebrae fractured earlier than non-adjacent vertebrae do (P<0.05). CONCLUSION PVP has a certain relation with adjacent vertebral fracture. And adjacent vertebrae fractured earlier than non-adjacent vertebrae do.
