Objective: To understand the attack rate and the correlation factors of RRI of 2.5-3.5 years old in TaiYuan, and make a effective measure for protection. Methods: Choose 502 children of 2.5-3.5 years old from nine communities in TaiYuan as objects. The study concluded there steps. 1. A retrospective cohort:To review the times of ARI. in July ,August and September, communities were selected with simple random sampling. 502 children from nine communities were selected with cluster sampling. All of the subjects were investageted using a designed questionare and a standard survey of life activity. 2. A prospective cohort: the objects should be separated into two groups(the exposure group who go to the nursery school ,the unexposure group who not go to the nursersy school). They should be called on per two weeks, the times of ARI. in October, November and December Should be recorded. The whole survey should be conducted by the pediatrican and health care doctors in community .3.A nested case control study: To choose the RRI from the cohort as a case, the others as a control, conduct a case-control study. The data was inputted into SPSS 10.0 and analyzed using SPSS 10. 0=, Result: There was significant difference in attack rate between two groups in RRI ( x~2=7. 282, P=0. 0080.05 ) after October, while not significant difference between two groups ( x~2=0.010, P=1.000>0. 0 5 ) before October. The attack rate of the exposure group after October is higher than that of before Octeber. The attack rate of the unexposure group has no significant difference between after October and before October. Entering nursery school may be a risk factor . The risk factors were: Parents smoking (0R=2. 919), Entering nursery school (0R=3. 403) , Zinc absence (0R=1.862) . The protective factors: Having siesta habit (0R=0.389), Stool timing (0R=0.417), Having heavier birth weight (0R=0. 301) . Conclusion: Many factors showed effects on the attack rate of RRI of the infants, including socity environment, living habits, individual factors, and so on. Hence, Family and society should provide more cares and helps to them, and improve their living habits, keep their happy mood.
