Objective: TO investigate the related factors between location of cerebral lesion and PSD.Methods: Case-control study in hospital was taken in this study. 120 consecutive cases of first-time stroke Patients were assessed by ZSRDS and HDRS.The subjects studied were divided into 2 groups,PSD and non-PSD.All patients were studied with the same CT scanner. After investigating the location of cerebral lesion, the degree of cerebral lesion and other related factors: such as ages, gender, education, time since stroke, medical fees, other diseases, degree of lesion, and mental statement, data analyse was performed with the use of stratification , t test and chi-square test by SPSS 10.0 software. Results: The incidence of PSD is 40.8%.There were no significant effects between groups in ages, gender, education, time since stroke, medical fees, other diseases, degree of lesion, and mental statement. There were significant groups difference between patients with left-side and right-side cerebral lesion, anterior and posterior cerebral lesions, cortical and sub-cortical cerebral lesion. Conclusions: The incidence of post-stroke depression is high and related to the location of damages.Patients with left-side cerebral lesion, forehead cerebral lesion and cortical lesion tend to be depressed. The location of damages in the area of middle cerebral artery tends to be depressed.
