Golden Mirror of Medicine is a grand set of medical works compiled by Wu Qian and others under the organization of the government during the Qianlong Period in Qing Dynasty, with 90 volumes, 15 kinds and 1.6 million words. The whole book is rich in content and systematic and?concise in description, being an important book for learning traditional Chinese medicine. It is of important academic position and impact in the history of traditional Chinese medicine, especially in the fields of medical education, medical theory and clinical treatment. This paper presents overall and systematic study on the background and purpose of the compilation of the book, the compilers, the process of compilation, the contribution of the book to the medical science, the academic influence of the book and the academic comment of the book. The author tries to analyze the academic thinking of the book, reveal its contributions, correctly regognize its historical position and objectively evaluate its present significance.
