Objective To investigate the correlation of TCM(traditional Chinese medicine ) types of BPH and types of prostatic histology. Methods Based on the standard of the diagnosis and effect of TCM disease published 1994 year by Nan jing university publishing company, 100 cases of BPH(clinical diagnosis) were divided six syndromes. Other clinical parameters (IPSS, chief complaint parameters ) were also collected. Prostatic constitution specimens were HE Stained and Observed by light microscope, and classified four lots of morphology (nodular hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia, prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and carcinoma). By the SPSS 10.0 statistics software and Chi-square test we find out their inter-correlations.Results (1)Three pathologic factors(kidney deficiency , Dampness and Heat , Blood Stasis ) occupied 85 percents of 100 cases . (2)There is significant difference between age of Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis and Syndrome of Deficiency of Kindey Yin or Syndrome of Insufficiency of Gastroplenic Qi(p=0.037,0.002). There is also significant correlation between prostatic gland weight and age(Index is 0.26,P=0.021).(3)The P between histology and age is 0.01, age of PIN lot has significant difference with other morphology lots. The age is also significant difference between PIN lot and nodular hyperplasia lot (P=0.03). It makes clear the age and prostate weight of syndromes of air sluggish and Blood Stasis and PIN lot have significant difference Compared with their respective Correspondence syndromes or lots. The percentage of PIN in Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis is significant higher than that of others syndromes of TCM , P < 0.01 .So there is significant correlation between Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis and PIN.Conclusion Tt seems that Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis of BPH has morphologic evidence.
