Yanxuesan Clinical Research, Treatment Of Retinal Vein Occlusion

To observe the therapeutic effect of Yan Xue San decoction (YXSD) on retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and supply scientific evidence for the clinical usage of YXSD. MethodsA total of 60 patients (60eyes) with RVO were chosen and divided randomly into YXSD group and west medicine group (WM). Each group containing -30 cases were respectively given YXSD and WM after diagnosis and followed up 3 months. All patients underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, including testing of visual acuity (AV), detailed fundus and fluorescein angiography with emphasis on retinal circulation times (RCT) before and after treatment. Results1 .The effect of treating RVO was: In YXSD group, the markedly effective rate was 20%, effective rate was 66.67%,and the total effective rate was 86.67%.In WM group, the markedly effective rate was 6.67%,effective rate is 46.67%,and the total effective rate was 53.33%.The former was far potent than the latter (p<0.01).2.The improvement of AV was: The AV of YXSD group improved from 0.27±0.24 to 0.56±0.31,and the AV of WM group improved from 0.31±0.27 to 0.43±0.35.The AV of both groups improved markedly (P=0.0000,P=0.0025), and there was difference between two groups by statistical analysis (P=0.041).3.The improvement of detailed fundus was: The absorption of edema and hemorrhage in retina could be observed in both groups and there was not statistical difference between them(P > 0.05).The YXSD could abate the leakage from the miropapillary more than the WM (P<0.05).4.The change of RCT was: The statistical shorten of RCT could be observed in XYSD and WM group (P=0.0000,P=0.0000), and the former was better than the latter (P<0.05).5.The time AV began to improve was: The time YXSD and WM began to improve were 23.65±13.13days and 34.38±11.72days,and the former was more potent than the latter (p=0.0012).6.The complications were: The incidence rats of cystoids macular edema (CMD),vitreous hamorrhage,retinal neovascularization(RNV) and neovascular glaucoma(NVG) in YXSD group and WM group were 16.67%,10%,6.67%,3.33% and 43.33%,16.67%,10%,6.66%.There is fewer CMD in the former than the latter(P<0.05). ConclusionYXSD could effectively treat RVO by shortening RCT, accelerating the absorption of edema and hemorrhage in retina, reducing the incidence rat of CMD and remarkably improving the AV.
