Automated biochemistry analyzer model II, which is one of the Ninth Five-Year key projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, adopts a new architecture to avoid the defects of conventional design and improve the accuracy and stability of measurements. This paper discusses the design scheme and realization method of the software system for automated biochemistry analyzer model II.In chief, the software system fulfills four functions: controls and synchronizes the motion of mechanism components, reads the absorbance value from the photometer, analyzes the collected data in reaction cycle and fulfill the sample measurement , calibration and quality control , stores .reviews and statistically analyzes the result of the sample measurement , calibration and quality control. According to its function, the software system is divided into four modules: the mechanism components control and communication module, data analysis module, database module and user interface module.In order to ensure the real-time and synchronized control and communication, which is the key factor in mechanism components control and communication module design, the multi-thread approach was adopted. As to every mechanism components, there was an independent thread and a very high priority was set for the thread in order to assure realtime fulfillment. An administrator thread took charge of the synchronization among the mechanism components. The function of the data analysis module was chiefly fulfilled by an independent analysis thread, cooperated with other two threads: motion control thread and photometer thread. In database module the DAO database programming interface and Microsoft Access database were used. Also message passing mechanism to make DAO support multithreading was adopted. With referring to the user interfaces of other automated biomedical analyzers and the developing trend of user interface design, the user interface module widely adopted tables and key maps etc, thus users can manipulate it more directly and easily.Having been debugged with combined with hardware system, the software system runs stably and produces correct results, which shows the system design is reasonable and reliable. Conformed with the trend of medical equipment localization, when fulfill the whole designprocess and the automated biomedical analyzer model II is pushed into market, it will certainly produce considerable social and economic benefits.
