In this thesis, the chemical constituents and activities of the ovum of Rana temporaria chensinensis David were studied.15 compounds were isolated from the ovum of Rana temporaria chensinensis David with silica gel, sephadex LH-20, HPLC etc. On the basis of analysis of UV, IR, NMR, MS data and measuring of physico-chemical characters, the structures of 13 compounds were elucidated as cholesterol, palmitote (I), hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester and octadecanoic acid, ethyl ester (II) and (III), octadecanoic acid (IV), cholesterol (V), hexadecanoic acid, 2-hydroxy-1, 3-propanediyl ester (VI) , palmitic acid (VII), cholest-5-en-7-one, 3-hydroxy (VIII), hexadecanamide (IX), 9-octadecenoic acid, 2, 3-dihydroxypropyl ester (X), hexadecanoic acid, 2, 3-dihydroxypropyl ester (XI), azelaicacid (XII), 3, 5, 6-cholestane-3, 5a,6-triol (XIII), all these compounds were isolated for the first time from the ovum of Rana temporaria chensinensis David. Furthermore, 21 kinds of fatty acids were identified by GC-MS.Studies on activities of the chemical constituents from the ovum of Rana temporaria chensinensis David showed potent anti-convulsion effects in convulsion mice induced by strychnine nitrate in single dose.
