Cerebral Infarction Due To Mental Retardation Treated With Acupuncture

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of using acupuncture to treating the intellectual disorder of patients who had the cerebral infarction disease according to the principle of replenishing kidney recipe and xing nao kai qiao of tradition medical of China . Though studying the change of content of Ach in blood and activity of AchE in blood and the change of intelligence of patients before and after treating by using acupuncture and nimodipine to probe the mechanism of acupuncture treating vacuslar demenetia VD, and prove that Acupuncture is a kind of efficient method which treat vacuslar demenetia.MethodsAll the sixty-three In-patients who come from Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Cerebral physical Department .according to history symdrone and physical examination and the standard of DSM-IV and Haschinski about vacuslar demenetia disease ,were divided two groups : Acupuncture groups and Drug groups . Acupuncture groups including 32 cases Drug groups including 31 cases, Acupuncture groups select BAI HU1 through SI SHEN CONG point FENG CHI (double), QU Cffl (double), ZUSAN LI (double) , JUE GU (double), SHUIGOU. Drug groups take nimodipine 30 mg three times a day . Every patient treat thirty days .At the same time measure the scores of MMSE total WAIS-RC verbal and performance measure the intelligence of every one before and after treating . On the other hand ,check relevant biochemical indicators the content of acetylcholine Ach and activity of acetylcholine esterase AchE in blood and Ach/AchE relevance of content of Acetycholine and intelligence and liporotein metabolism.Results1. Acupuncture groups' effective rates is 90.6% but Drug groups' is 70.9%, Acupuncture groups' effective rate are obviously higher than Drug groups'.There are significantly difference between two groups (PO.05)2. Two groups ' the scores of MMSE total WAIS-RC, verbal scores performance scores and VIQ PIQ TIQ are all increased. Compares the change of every items with Acupuncture groups and Drug groups . There is significant difference between the Acupuncture groups and Drug groups, especially the change PIQ and the performance scores( PO.05.)S.Two groups' the content of acetycholine and activity of acetycholine esterase are all increased. Compared to the change of content of Ach and activity of AchE The change of Acupuncture groups excel Drug groups There are significant difference of content of Ach between the two groups.(p<0.01) Meantime we found that the change of Ach and the increasing change of scores of WAIS-RC of every items and MMSE and change of intelligence are postive relevance.4.The Acupuncture groups 'liporotein metabolism is decreased mostly but theDrug groups is not so much comparing with two groups( P<0.05)Conclusions1.This kind of acupuncture methods can treat vacuslar demenetia disease efficiently in short time and increase the intelligence of patients who had the intellectual disorder disease.2.The mechanism of acupuncture for vacuslar demenetia disease probably is by increasing the content of Ach and the activity of AchE justify the Ach/AchE in blood.3 .As a kind of cheap convenient efficient method for vacuslar demenetia VD . Acupuncture method should be used in clinic for this disease costly.
