Facial paralysis is one of the common diseases of our society. For thousands of years, it has been treated using acupuncture, which is generally acknowledged as one of the most effective therapeutic methods available today. A satisfied treatment of facial paralysis through modern medicine has not yet been developed. This article summarizes the findings from an examination of over 100 medical journal papers and addresses the ancient Chinese physicians standpoints on the subjects of the names and the causes of the disease, and the features of its acupuncture treatment; Current research of tranditional Chinese medicine on modern acupuncture facial paralysis therapy, especially in the area of improving treatment, has been analyzed and is also discussed within. This article presents an exploration of the factors that influence the treatment, and its curative effects, of facial paralysis based on the above analysis, and concludes with a set of more scientific and logical ways of thinking about the disease and provides a more efficient method for the treatment of facial paralysis, all of which will benefit the medical society as well as patients.
