Objective To assess the effect of different therapies between "Si Tian" points and cervical "Jia Ji" points in treating of Cervicalspondylotic radiculopathy (CSR) in clinic.Method According to the clinical effect, quantitative and qualitative analysis detected by infrared thermography to appraise the therapeutic efficacy and discuss the mechanism of "Si Tian" points in treating CSR.Result and Conclusion 1.Comparison of the clinical effect between two groups: the cured rate and the total effective rate in the therapy group were 65.00% and 92.50%, respectively, while 29.78% and 70.21% in the control group. There was a significant difference between two groups analyzed by Ridit analysis (PO.05). It indicated that acupuncture on "Si Tian" points was superior to that on cervical "Jia Ji" points.2.Comparison of the changes and the grades of main symptoms between two groups: After treatment, the grade of aching, numbness, uncomfortable feeling and whether affect working and living descended significantly, compared with those of patients before treatment, with a significant difference (P<0.01); the improvement of aching and uncomfortable feeling in the therapy group were superior to those of the control group, and there was a significant difference (PO.01). The same result could be seen at the aspect of improvement of numbness and whether affect working and living (PO.05) . These indicated that the acupuncture of "Si Tian" points has better effect than that of cervical "Jia Ji" points in improving clinicalsymptoms.3.Result of the thermography features: The feature was even temperature type or warm type in the normal group, while remarkable difference in temperature in cervical syndrome group. It showed high temperature type in the nape region. The result indicated that the thermography features could be used to diagnosis and evaluation the cervical syndrome. There were remarkable improvements in two groups after treatment (the average temperature in the rectangular region from C4 to T|2 was 29.50+1.26'C in "Si Tian" group, while 30.38+1.27'C in "Jia Ji" points group after treatment), they had significant difference compared with pretreatment (P<0.01). The improvement in "Si Tian" points group was superior to that of "Jia Ji "points group (P<0.05). Correlation analysis indicated that the changes of infrared thermography features were positive correlation to the improvement of clinical symptoms. We affirmed from the infrared thermography result that the effect of "Si Tian" points was superior to that of cervical "Jia Ji" points in treating CSR.
