Acupuncture In Young Patients With Myopia Eye Amplitude Of Accommodation

Purpose:To observe the effects of pricking acupoints around the eye and Hegu on eye's amplitude of accommodation,thereby to investigate the primary mechanism of acupuncture therapy on adolescent myopia.Material and method:Cases were 18 adolescents whose far-vision below 5.0 but near-vision was normal.Their age from 8 to 16 years old ,and their course from 2 months to 5 years .The diagnostic criterion with the presymptom of myopioses and far-vision decrease at different degree,but near-vision is normal(≥5.0),far-vision below the normal vision(≤4.9).Specific method is measure 18 cases,amplitude of accommodation with negative lens on their right eyes before the acupuncture treatment and record the results. Then begin the acupuncture treatment.Select the acupoints mainly around the eye and Hegu every 30 minutes each day and 10times as one course.Measure the eye's available accommodation again with the same method on the same eye after each acupuncture treatment course was over.Statistic the dates of the results and contrast with themselves by before and after the treatment.Results:18 adolescent myopia cases'amplitude of accommodation was rise evidently and have markedly statistical significance befoe and after the treatment,p=0.000.Conclusion:1. The amplitude of accommodation of adolescent myopioses was evidently below the peers'.2. Acuponcture therapy that mainly around the eye may evidently increase the adolescent myopia cases'amplitude of accommodation.3. The conclusion of the article was based on 18 adolescent myopia cases'that included.However,the exact effect of Acuponcture therapy on the adolescent myopia cases'amplitude of accommodation should be further study.
