Purpose:To discuss the medical effect and the surgery method of small incision for the treatment of far lateral lumber disc herniation (FLLDH).Material and method: Choosing 13 patients with FLLDH during May of 2009 to May of 2011 to operation by minimally invasive surgeries with conventional surgical instruments.We take a posterior central vertical mini-incision.Release nerve root canal and removed the protruding nucleus pulposus.The whole operative time last 50min to 120min,averaging 90min. According to the JOA standard ,evaluate the recovery of nerve function.Results:Following up the patients after operations raging from 3 months to 18 months, there's no cauda equina syndrome,wound infection or thrombophlebitis occurrence. According to the JOA criteria,excellent was in 8 cases,good in 5 cases,acceptable in no case and no poor case,the effective rate was 100%.Conclusion:The method of minimally incision surgery enjoys the advantage of little damage,rapid recovery,curative and significant effect,therefore,it is one of effective ways for FLLDH.
