During these 150 years, Chinese immigrants went through several important stages:gold rush, railroad building, Canadian government forbidding more Chinese immigrants into Canada, Canada reestablished relationship with China, and finally Canadian government banned racial discrimination. Chinese Medicine practitioners'role and interaction with the main stream medicine community will provide us an insight as to how the practitioners struggle to survive in Canada. This thesis will also provide us with a more complete organization of the development of Chinese Medicine in Canada, and fill in some of the blanks of Chinese Medicine's over-sea development。Currently there is no formal study on Chinese Medicine history development in Canada. Chinese Medicine Practitioners has been dealing with Canadian government for more than thirty years. There are some newspaper and magazine articles about Traditional Chinese Medicine during this period, but most of them are brief and superficial. Articles about Traditional Chinese Medicine history and development gave readers pieces of information, not the whole process. This thesis analyzes documentations from early Chinese Medicine associations, correspondence between associations and the government, newspaper articles, magazine articles, and records within associations.Following the increasing number of Asian immigrants into Canada, Chinese Medicine has started to be valued and accepted by British Columbia, and it has became Canada's only province to establish a professional governing body for Chinese Medicine.
