Bencao Pinhui Jingyao is only a revised amateria works in Ming dynasty, and it's an ancient herbal monographs which is most closest to the modern pharmacopoeia in the content and the form. The Ming dynasty emperor of xiao zong ordered the compilation of the book, then, completed in 1505, with reference to many ancient herbal monographs and physicians'theory. It recorded 1815 kinds of herbs which divided into 10 parts. Each part divided into three categories. The monograph firstly created secondary classification, divided into 24 interpretations and had a lot of color maps which is elegant and easy recognizing. The rich property theories of the work, in modern times, widely applied to Drug identification and Science of Chinese processing material medicine. However, no one has done the arrangement of the food literature recorded in the book systematically, even related research about food and food compound prescription. The objects of this topic are collecting food literature, according to food research methods for statistics and analysis, summing up food functions and rules of organization of prescription to find the characteristics. Furthermore, it intends to summarize the contribution of TCM diet nutrition.This paper has three major components as follows:The first part is the statistic results of food literature which is according to food natural quality classifications. It introduces and summarizes all kinds of foods'five colors, five tastes, four natures and five smells. It sets up three databases respectively related to efficacy, supplementation action and health care function, summing up food distribution in the three databases.The second part is the statistic results of food compound prescriptions. It divided the major functions of the food compound prescriptions among internal disease, gynecology, surgery, paediatrics and ENT dept. and it also sum up the food composition about each subject. Three portions that comprise dosage forms, special methods and time of taking medicine are generalized.The third part is detailed analysis and discussion.The results:There are some contributions about TCM diet nutrition within Bencao Pinhui Jingyao. It recorded the food in detail, including 263 tastes and put forward a new theory concerning five smells. Through the analysis to the Tonifying food, we found that, tonifying five zang organs and invigorating qi are the most importants, Grains in which played an important role. Meanwhile, In 3 the field of Food compound prescription, vegetables has a large proportion in the composition of Food compound prescription of each disease. Special taking method of Food compound prescription make significant part in increasing effect, relieving stimulation of food and leading food to main and collateral channels.
