There are two parts in this article. The first one is the literature review, and the second one is the clinical study.In the literature review, we summarize the opinions about XiongPi in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from ancient times to today. This part includes the his torical names, symptom, pathogenic, mechanism and treatment and so on. The second part is about contemporary-medicine-knowledge of XiongPi. Because there is no diagnosis in contemporary-medicine agree with XiongPi, so we mainly discuss about "chest distress". We talk about the reason and classification of chest distress seriously, and make examples of nowadays study in chest distress. We also talk about the basic knowledge of arterial blood gas analys i s.In the clinical study, we research the relationship between Blood gas analysis and Deficiency of XiongPi.There are 60 patients in my study. They were divided into three groups according to their syndrome:group 1 is cases who have the syndrome of deficiency of Qi; Group 2 is cases who have the syndrome of deficiency of Yang; group 3 is cases who have the syndrome of deficiency of Yin. Then the relativity between the arterial blood gas analysis and the different traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Syndrome type were analyzed.The results shows the difference of the arterial blood gas analysis of these three groups was evident (P<0.01)...
