In an age of knowledge economy and information technology, general characteristics of the modern social sciences research has turned to be more and more comprehensive, applicative and international. Institutions meanwhile are required by all the fields in society to provide better social sciences academic services. This is when the informatization of scientific research management and its connection with the management system reform begin playing a significant role in the development of the social sciences research institutions. It is necessary to perform a sum-up and critical inquiry on the subject to promote the development of the informatization of scientific research management in Chinese social sciences research institutions.First, combining the practical way of scientific research management, establish a theoretical framework of the informatization of scientific research management in the social sciences research institutions by discussing the applied needs, building model, implementation elements, and inspirations from other fields concerning informatization. Finally, give advice on improving, which includes suggestion that to step out of two error areas of informatization -- "Office Automation" in application, and apartness between the informatization and the reform of scientific research management -- and a global strategy on informatization in the modern Chinese social sciences research institutions.
