Through the survey on 1885 college students and 779 employees from various types of jobs, the model of the effect of PC on strategic, flexibility and balance in carrer contingency management is developed in this paper, the promoting effect of PC on career contingency and career balance is also explored and preliminarily examined through utilizing the collected samples and data. Contingency management can be conceptualized in terms of career stain force and career balance. Through testing the effect of PC on career contingency management and exploring the mechanisms of the effect, this paper demonstrates the the feasibilities and advantages of PC when applied to career management, especially to Protean Career management, namely, the happened contingencies in career. The first point of this study is to conceptualize the content of career contingency management which leads to career success. This paper proposes that career contingency management and career success can be tested by standards of goals achievment and optimum realization. So far, no theoretical studies and related empirical studies have yet been made to incorporate contingency management into the field of career management from this standpoint. This paper defines the contents of career contingency management and career balance from the perspective of flexibility and optimum respectively, and develops the optimal career results or the concept of career success, on the basis of which empirical test is made. The second point of this study is to frame a model of the relation between PC--career contingency—career success after defining the content of career contingency which leads to success and controlling other influential factors. We need to consider how to make research findings more general and rigorous either from the perspective of empirical study of contingency theory, or the individual differences and time-dependent changes in career, or the exploitability and variabiliy of PC to make the influence of PC in the conclusion of this study more realistic in demonstrating the causality in reality. The factors of individual differences, time-dependent changes and the examinations of the results were rarely considered in previous studies on contingency theory and career. An analysis of the anweres to contingency from pre-service (in education) group and in-service group is made in order to overcome the nagative impact of time and procedure on the conclusion in this study. The third point of this paper is that the cause-effect relations and mechanisms of positiveness (PC)â†'flexibilityâ†'balance(career contingency) are tested and demonstrated from the perspective of contingency theory, moreover, career contingency, flexibility and positiveness of PC are also applied into the field of modern management, for example, a measurment index of balance is about the balance between personal development and contribution to organization, the result of it proves that the balance between the two factors can be predicted by PC, which ultimately leads to personal career success. The relations between these three are demonstrated quantitively in the conclusion in this paper. The results of the structural equation show that the career contingency management constructs of strategic, flexibility of life and balance can be proved and established by career success. At the same time, PC can predict and improve career contingency and career balance mentioned above in a significant way. Among them, as the optimal content in career contingency, the career balance, which can be predicted by PC, can lead to optimal career results, namely, the balanced career results.
