Shanghai Downtown Renovation Of Old Residential Mode

The thesis is based on the development course and renewal mode of the old residential district renewal in downtown of Shanghai. Through analyzing the history and present situation of the old residential district and the dilemma encountered in the course of the renewal, anatomizing several typical cases, collecting relative modes and summarizing the experience gaining from the practice, it hopes to find out the available way to solve the problems.This thesis analyses the present and future of the old residential district renewal from the multi-disciplinary theoretical perspective, integrating conceptual and empirical studies, and reviews the course and trend of the old residential district renewal from the historical perspective. With the examples in Jingan, Luwang and Changning districts, it also elaborates four typical modes of the old residential district renewal at present, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of such modes from comparing the effect, maneuverability and generalization.In the end, the thesis puts forward some political advices and gives some references for accelerating the old residential district renewal in downtown of Shanghai in the future.
