It has been proved that industrial engineering, as a managerial science,is of great value for reducing waste and cost and raising efficiency in production .This paper is composed of five sections as follows.The first, Presentation of theory and application of logistics system and information technology in modern automotive engine assembly lines in China and abroad. Study of assembly line and logistics in manufacturing industry.The second, Investigation of the status of engine assembly line and logistics system in Yangzhou Diesel Engine Co Ltd. Identification of main problems of lengthened production cycle and retarded response to market demand.The third, Systematic improvement plans are made for information system ,layout of engine assembly line and loginstics system to solve the problems in assembly line and logistecs system in Yangzhou Diesel Engine Co Ltd.
