The traditional holiday of "March Third" in a miniature but concentrated way reflects the various characteristics of She Zu culture, represents the unique values of She Zu culture. Taking the folk custom activities at Laozhu She Zu Town, Lishui of Zhejiang, as the subjects for investigation and research, the author aimed at through this case study to probe and analyze characteristics of She Zu people's culture."March Third" is a cultural festival in the form of singing, endogamy, folk communication and commemorating the ethnic hero. It is a cultural activity, which can unite the internal feelings of the people. Thesis through a large number of interviews and literature, made a comparison to the past and present of the She "March Third" ; through a study of large numbers of folklore events, made a comparative analysis about the activities by She people on the "March Third" holiday, Particularly through a systematically comparative analysis of She Zu marriage customs transitions from formats to real contents.The "March Third" today reflects a new characteristic, which is termed as "the culture building stage, the economy performing opera". This new characteristic on one hand displays the fact that government highly cares about She Zu culture and hopes to improve the standard of living of people in the She Zu area through this platform; on the other hand it also exhibits the continuously enhanced interactions between She people and Han people. However, the expansion of celebrating activities has generated some negative impacts and changes: the original function of She Zu "March Third" has become weaker and weaker, while the amusement and economic factors have been increased, the entertainment and commercial functions enhanced.The author does not deny the role of innovation, and wish the government plays more important role in protecting and innovating ethnic cultures. However, what we must oppose to is replacing the original taste and flavor of "March Third" by utilitarian "March Third", which is inconsistence either with ethnic culture inheritance or with ethnic culture honoring. And, the author put forward the protection of "March Third" measure.Meanwhile the author proposes that the government should be the folk wisdom discoverer, go-between contact person, financial assistance, and the model promoter. Respect the folk wisdom and creativity, when the opportunity to mature, relax the constraints on civil society. In the system, form a soil to develop and irrigate cultural consciousness.
