An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM is typically a company that uses a component made by a second company in its own product, or sells the product of the second company under its own brand. It is in charge of production except for technology, captital, market. It is the result of socially large scale production too. OEM mode is extensively applied to manufacturing industry, especially IT.On the one hand, enterprises have made great achievements by OEM mode, on the other hand, its own weak points(lack of R&D, innovation ability, well-known brand etc. ) limit enterprises. So, enterprises must be upgraded from OEM to ODM, OBM. That is ultimate aim of every entreprise to look forward to be made strong and large.This paper is made up of 6 chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, the aim, and structure. Chapter 2 gives the conception and characteristics of OEM, ODM, OBM and sums up recent studies on upgrading of OEM enterprise. Chapter 3 elaborates status of OEM development in the world, especially in Taiwan and the Mainland, then points out its problems. Chapter 4 researchs upgrape path of enterprise theoretically and practically. Chapter 5 proves these theroies with a case study. Chapter 6 draws the conclusions basing on Chapter 1 to 5 and make suggestions about upgrading of enterprise, lastly indicates the drawbacks of the thesis.
