Resource-island Tourism Safety Management Studies

With the development of tourism, the study on the tourism safety has also been deepened gradually. As the new hotspots of coastal tourism in the 21st century, it is gradually becoming the major concern both inside and outside the industry. However, the safety of the coastal tourism still lags behind. As an important component of tourism, that of the coastal island is far from enough. From the perspective of management, selecting the resource-based island tourism for study aims to be aware of the safety of resource-based island tourism and enrich the micro-research of tourism safety. Besides, the sustainable development of island tourism will surely be promoted through seeking for the effective measures of management and theoretical basis.On the basis of the related concepts and elaboration of the situation throughout the world, the paper analyses the harm of the incidents, the frequency and repeated bursts of inevitable natural disasters. Meanwhile, the weakness in rescue and protection, the difficulty and techniques of prevention and control, the urgency to ensure the safety have also been probed into. Besides, all those have been classified according to different characteristics. The main problems that may exist have been summed up with the purpose to have a try on constructing the system of tourism safety management from three basic elements—person, item and object, the basic principles of safety management, internal and external security measures for effective operation as well.In the end of the paper, a typical representative of Fujian resource-based island - Meizhou Island has been selected as an example under the guidance of positivism. Through the survey of Meizhou Island (including tourists and the tourism sector / business), field observation, in-depth investigation (including the tourism sector / enterprises and residents on the island), the profound analysis has been carried out on the system of tourism safety management and the current situation of the person, item and object there. In this way, both the successful experience management and the shortcomings have been realized, and the corresponding suggestions shown.
