With the globalization of world economy, more and more companies have explored their supply chains around the world to peruse lower cost and bigger market. They re-arrange the production to these countries and regions with cost advantage or closer location to the market. These companies' purchasing is extended to much wider area and adjusted according to the political and economical situation, technological level and infrastructure status in the purchasing market. To ensure products' quality, reduce purchasing expense, and satisfy the efficiency of supply chain, the category of product is decided according the competitiveness of purchasing market.China is the main purchasing base of apparel. However, its cost competitiveness has been weakened due to the rising expense of raw material and labour, appreciation of RMB. Moreover there will be new trade barriers on Chinese apparel products in European countries and America. Therefore, the purchasing strategy of multi-national companies is gradually being changed. In face of all these stress from home country and international market, how could the apparel suppliers in China cope with the current tough situation? This paper begins with the study of global supply chain management and multi-national purchasing management theory, analysing how to achieve competition situation and getting the main effect factors among global purchasing decision-making. Then the author introduces the main characteristics of garment industry, the industry situation in China. After the current situation of garment sourcing and purchasing is elaborated, the author also analyzes and studies the trend of garment sourcing and purchasing in China. The last part of paper proposes to Chinese garment suppliers to take actions to become suppliers of multi-national companies, improve competition situation in their supply chains, cultivate suppliers' own brand and run the business globally.
