Although service can be one of the most expensive merchandises in the world, today more and more customers would like to spend more on buying high quality service.In the future, the competition among China Post and its competitors is not only on the price but also on the quality of service. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) integrates LSI and radio communication techniques, which shows Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) development trend. RFID Technology has been applied early by some western countries. Now it is being widely used in many fields in China, including logistics, transportation, medical services, manufacturing, education and so on. The application of Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) by China Post will not only relieve the postmen's working intensity, reduce mistakes, improve processing speed, but also help managers to trace vehicles and goods whenever and wherever, which will create better conditions for China Post to improve its service quality.The application of RFID at China Post is one of the most important projects of National 863 Program. At first, this paper briefly introduces the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, including the principle and application, the classification standard of this technology, and the side effects of its equipment to human bodies and so on. Secondly, this paper put forward an overall edsign plan on utilization of RFID Technology in the Post Office. Thirdly it describes the RFID application for handling EMS post bag process in Shanghai. In addition, we bring in the proposal of handling the container transportation between Changzhou and Nanjing postal district centers utilizing this technology. We also present the design solution for the logistics system at East China using RFID. Many testing data are analyzed and provide supports to our solutions. Finally, we summarize the whole paper and point out the promising future of applying RFID in postal service.
