Adaptive to their expansion, steel companies have a huge demand for logistics. Modern logistics has been involved in various fields of the steel industry, including steel manufacturers, distributors, procurers, logistics & warehouse providers, etc.. In this situation, it is necessary and urgent for an intermediary to be established to provide such services as aggregating supply of and demand for logistics, and doing matching activities. An emerging logistics park is a good choice to play such a role between steel companies. In the circulation, the logistics park provides such services as transporting, distributing, manufacturing, information processing, consulting, and holding exhibitions. The logistics park demonstrates its value through interaction among logistic flow, information flow and capital flow. The popularity of e-commerce and especially fast development of electronic marketplace combined with the logistics park contribute to the formation of a logistics electronic marketplace, which is in turn able to better promote the realization of the value of the logistics park.Although a logistics electronic marketplace has such a promising future, the current marketplaces have not achieved expected results because of ambiguous position and immature design. Thus it is an urgent problem to be solved that how to design an efficient logistics electronic marketplace. Therefore, by taking the chance of involving in YF steel company's program to set up a logistics park, this study attempts to make an IT plan for the logistics electronic marketplace of YF steel company, and to provide the corresponding implementation strategies. We expect that this study will make contribution to the research on establishment of logistics electronic marketplaces.In this study, we will first collect related literature and cases, from which theories about logistics and e-commerce will be summarized. And then we will make comparison study of the current logistic electronic marketplaces by interviewing and collecting related materials, so as to find advantages and disadvantages of these marketplaces. Next, we will use SWOT analysis to position the logistics electronic marketplace of YF steel company, and Profit & Loss Balance analysis to find the break even point of the marketplace. Based on the above analysis, we will analyze and design such issues as functions, information management, internal monitoring, and net securities of the marketplace by systematically applying theories and methods of IT planning. In the end, we will provide implementation strategies for the logistics electronic marketplace of YF steel company.
