| Sustainable development is new strategy and concept of development. It concerns many fields including natural and social science. Sustainable Development encourages economic growth, because it embodies the national strength and wealth. To protect the natural foundation of sustainable development, environment coordinates the bearing capacity of resources. Sustainable development should improve and enhance the quality of life and social progress.Dalian, as the most importnant open city in North, has become the leader of promoting the northeast old industrial base. Under new situation, according to its own development condition, Dalian certainly that chooses the sustainable development. This article appraises Dalian's sustainable developmentability. According to the problem of Dalian, it proposes the future strategic countermeasure of sustainable development. This article involves three parts:The first chapter is the preface, which elaborates the study situation at home and abroad, implications, prime principles of sustainable development and so on. As the same time this chapter also expounds that sustainable development is the necessary choice of Dalian. According to its own economic, social and environmental development situations, Dalian chose the road to sustainable development.Empirical Analysis is part of the secord chapter. Establishing a series of evaluation index system, which appraises the capacity of sustainable development of Dalian. Analyzing the evaluation result, we can find the problems of Dalian.The last chapter is the future countermeasures.
