China's economic structure is a typical characteristic of duality.Along witheconomic development and social progress, to break the dual structure in urban andrural areas, has become an inevitable requirement for promotion sustainable economicdevelopment, social stability and social harmony. In this paper, we have an in-depthstudy on the dual economic structure in China. The formation of the dual economicstructure, characteristics,change has been reported in a detailed way, it is clear that thedual economic structure is solidified further, and needed to weaken.Our neighbor South Korea, to solve its internal problems, launched the NewVillage Campaign in the 1970s, and by this campaign increased farmers income,narrowed the gap between urban and rural areas, created the "miracle of the HanRiver." It is a refere-nce model for developing countries to solve the problem of thedual structure in urban and rural areas. This paper introduces some aspects as the "NewVillage Campaign" launched background, the initiated process, the model, the resultsand so on. China has conditions to solve the duality of the economy compared withSouth Korea.Based on the studies of "New Village Campaign" and the dual economic structurein China, we put forward ways and means to solve the problem of the dual structure inurban and rural areas, with mature theory as a guide, based on China's specificconditions and draw on lessons learned from Korea. They suit the actual conditions ofChina to explore the road of change. And a series of strategy bring forward, such as: topromote industriali-zation, urbanization, development of the tertiary industry, toimprove its agricultural competitiveness, to attache importance to agriculture, tosupport the development of the rural economy, to accelerate the pace of developmentof agriculture, and so on.
