Sme Growth Boundary Study

From the reform and opening up, small and medium-sized enterprises grows up fast, and being an important part of national economy. But confined by their capital, human resource and management ability, the majority of them can not grow up steadily. Considering this situation, this article put the research point on the selection of the growth boundary of the corporation, analyzing and ascertaining the growth boundary of the small and medium-sized enterprises from the dimensions of scale boundary and ability boundary, seek an appropriate growth model for small and medium-sized enterprises, hope this will be helpful to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.At first, the article reviews the theories of the boundary of enterprises from six aspects : technique, transaction cost, possession, vertical integration, the ability of enterprise and its competing advantage, the achievement of the research of domestic scholars. Based on this, it discusses the double characters of enterprises boundary mainly used the theories of system economic and enterprise ability: the scale boundary and the ability boundary, then further conclude the boundary character of enterprises in the new time: indefinite, dynamic and interpenetration.According to the analysis of the theories of the boundary of the enterprises and the couple characters of the enterprises, the article describes the five common growth models of small and medium-sized enterprises, they are operating independently, merge and acquisition, equity and non-equity strategy alliance, fictitious enterprises, discussed their conception, types, premise ,small and medium-sized enterprise's typical selection, then the article concludes the boundary characters of each models.At last, the article chooses two growth models: the M&A and the strategy alliance as the research emphasis, analyzes the ascertain of the scale boundary and ability boundary of M&A and the strategy in detail, and attempted to give some management methods of the analysis and management of the boundary of enterprise, summing up some clues based on the whole research, confirming that the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises does not only determined by the scale boundary of the enterprise, but also depend on the perfect merge of its scale boundary and ability boundary.
