Promoting from the economic and technical, mobile communications has been rapidly developed with macroeconomic development and the implementation of the national information strategy. Early 1990s of last century, the 1st generation of mobile communications technology was operated in China that could only provide the single voice service; along with technological development, it was replaced by the 2nd generation mobile communication technology(2G) that could provide digital voice and low speed data service for the inherent technical weaknesses. Coincides with the national reform of the communications industry, China mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Netcom have been established in 2G communications market. China Telecom and China Netcom cut to mobile communications market with PHS; suddenly smoke signals arise everywhere of the entire mobile communications market. After several years of competition and grinding, market is relatively balanced. China mobile gained the Competitive advantage and firmly occupied the leading position in the market.With the technology and market development, the coming of 3G era, It will bring the market opportunities but also a huge market challenges to china mobile,the opposite balance of market will be broken, intense competition occur again. This document analyzes the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of china mobile in the mobile communications market of X that is located in a remote area with undeveloped economies. To deal with competition, the china mobile is changing from a communications expert to information expert, and the communications services evolving from the traditional voice to the variety and comprehensive diversified of the 3G that are integrated services with wireless voice, images, and data. Base on experience of the 2G operations and competition, by analyzing of the 3G challenges and environments, this document also proposes a number of corresponding measures: To avoid technology risk effectively by using of advanced technologies In the network; to meet the demand of data services and the terminal customization in the channels; to focus on enterprise and data service in the marketing; to increase the intensity of the training and bringing in talent in human resources.Based on the present, looking to the future, we must meticulous prepare, carefully make decision, and continually maintain our competitive advantage to face the tremendous technological changes of 3G and the significant changes of the mobile communications market competition.
