Complex Product Systems Modular Manufacturing Model And Its Influencing Factors

Complex Product Systems (CoPS) play a more and more important role in national competence. Modularization can effectually simplify the designing and manufacturing process of CoPS. Especially in the knowledge economy times that the info technique is developing fast and the demand individualizes gradually, modularization is a kind of method which has mighty involved bound and utilized capability. Many researched have revealed that the corporation has formed a new organizing form, which brought a lot of unthinkable effect, after modularization. Some of present researches focus on the designing and manufacturing of modularization, some others discuss the important effect of CoPS. However, few have discussed the modularization of CoPS. Basing on"The Core Competence Theory", this paper analyzes the characteristics of CoPS, and divides CoPS into four modes of modular manufacturing: Integrated Modular Manufacturing Mode, Technologic-Alliance Modular Manufacturing Mode, Leading-Corporation Modular Manufacturing Mode, and Clustering Modular Manufacturing Mode. There are also sub-modes. Different modes have various affecting factors which are divided into four groups by this paper: the effect of information processing, the effect of coordinating costs between modular, the effect of modularization integration efficient, and the effect of corporate with different sizes and abilities. In the end, this paper gives suggestions to CoPS corporations and Chinese government on modularization.
