Objective:To evaluate the health food situation in Shanxi Province by investigating the status of health food production enterprises and the products.Methods:Health food production enterprises and their products were comprehensive evaluated using TOPSIS method according to the "Good Manufacturing Practice" (GMP) for health food.Results:The number of health food products which were approved by Shanxi Province about 1% of the total; Three major health food formulations were capsules, tablets, and oral solution, respectively; The first health function was lipid-lowering; Ingredients in the list of Medicinal and Edible greater frequency of use followed by hawthorn, medlar and Poria; Buckwheat is commonly used in non-traditional Chinese medicine health food raw materials in Shanxi Province; Functional components and/or landmark occurrence frequency components were the most flavonoids, saponins and polysaccharides; Samples passing rate was 96.65% and 93.02% of the health food companies meet GMP requirements ((including the commissioning of processing enterprises); All of the cleanliness of manufacturer's clean rooms were qualified and have met the requirements of 300,000. In addition,98% of the clean rooms even reached 100 000 requirements; The pass rates of temperature, relative humidity, static pressure difference and the illumination were 98.33%,85.63%,89.58% and 94.58%, respectively; The cleanliness of workshops of within, filling and after the filling process plant was the best, followed by non-production workshop. However, the cleanliness of workshops which were before the workshop of within and filling ranked the third. According to the comprehensive evaluation of 31 enterprises, of which seven health facilities and health food companies better manage the situation, these 7 companies are pharmaceutical companies with health food shop.Conclusions:The development of health food industry in Shanxi Province is slow; Health food products with similar formulations of pharmaceutical dosage forms based; The distribution of Health function and ingredients are uneven and the functional ingredients can not be told or distribution into focus; The health food hygiene is stable,93.02% of the health food companies to GMP requirements. The equipment and health management situation in the pharmaceutical companies with health food shop facilities are the best.
