Research On Domestic Trade Container Shipping

Our country's domestic container transportation can adapt to sustainable economic development, in line with expanding domestic demand and stimulating the economy. At the same time, the transportation mode conforms to the requirement of "low-carbon economy". Having a vast territory and very favorable conditions for water transportation, the domestic container transportation has a broad prospects.Since the first all container shipping route was opened up in December 1996, China's domestic container transportation has made remarkable achievements, and the growth rates of domestic container throughput at many ports are far more than the growth rates of foreign trade containers. China Shipping Group and other major shipping companies have also invested human and material resources, actively developing domestic container transportation routes and investing the terminal building. Driven by the continuing domestic economy development and the policy of expanding domestic demand, domestic container transportation grows at a high speed which has been the new economic growth point, which also lay the foundation for our country's integrated logistic system. However, domestic container transportation is a new industry and lacks related policies and measures, therefore lots of problems exposed which hamper the development of domestic container transportation. In a word, how to promote the development of domestic container transportation is a burning question.This paper reviews the development of domestic container transportation process, sums up the problems during historical development and synthetically analysis the internal as well as external environment for the future development. By using the SWOT analysis method, the paper generally analysis the current overall situation of the domestic container transportation development. Next, by quantificationally predicting both inland rivers and coastal domestic container transportation throughput and electing econometric forecasting mode, judgements for the future trend of domestic container transportation development can be made. Finally, according to the forecast outcome and the analysis of internal and external environment, the paper gives advices for future development of domestic container transportation. These advices provide technical supports so that domestic container transportation can continue to overcome the existing problems and give full play to the economic advantage of transportation technology.
