Metropolitan Areas Of The Production Services Division Of Labor Characteristics And Optimization Recommendations

Developing producer services is the only way of metropolitan area improving. Producer services division and cooperation will make every city in the metropolitan area complement one another and promote their economic strength. However, base on industrial division in metropolitan area of china, research on producer services division was not well understood.As a case study of study Jingjinji Metropolitan Area, base on the temporal and spatial evolutions, this paper conducted an empirical study on changes of producer services division characteristic and influencing regions of typical producer services, applying input-output model, factor analysis and breaking point theory and so on. The results could be concluded as followings.Firstly, there was a large difference in industrial structure and producer services structure among each city in Jingjinji Metropolitan Area. Nowadays, Beijing's industrial structure is "three-two-one" type, while Tianjin and Hebei Province are "two-three-one" type, and cities in Hebei Province were different from each other. Moreover, producer services in Beijing was mainly based on knowledge-intensive industries, while Tianjin and Hebei Province based on traditional service industries.Secondly, the variation trend of the intermediate demand proportion by manufacturing in Jingjinji Metropolitan Area was quite different. The shares of manufacturing in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province on intermediate demand of traffic, transport, storage and post was all increased, yet that of information transmission, computer services and software was decline; the share of manufacturing in Beijing on intermediate demand of wholesale and retail trades was increased obviously, but decline in other cities; the share of manufacturing on intermediate demand of financial intermediation, leasing and business services, scientific research, technical services and geography prospecting were decline in Beijing, Tianjin and increased in Hebei Province.Thirdly, cities in Jingjinji Metropolitan Area generated different comparative advantages of producer service from each other. At province scale, Beijing had an advantage in Knowledge & technology-intensive producer service industries, yet Hebei Province in the traditional industries. Tianjin's comparative advantage in traffic, transport, storage and post was decline and in financial intermediation was increased. Moreover, at city scale, the eight cities in Hebei Probince also has their own comparative advantages of producer service.Fourthly, producer services structure were similar to each other in cities of Jingjinji Metropolitan Area. There was a higher similarity of producer services structure between Beijing and Tianjin and a lower one between Beijing and cities in Hebei Province. The producer services structure of Tianjin was similar to each city in Hebei Province except Qinhuangdao, while cities in Hebei Province were similar to each other except Qinhuangdao. In addition, producer services division among cities in Jingjinji Metropolitan Area deepened gradually in a low speed.Fifthly, the financial intermediation and traffic, transport, storage and post' competitiveness and influencing regions of Beijing were dominant in Jingjinji Metropolitan Area. And the financial intermediation competitiveness of Tianjin was not remarkable, but it was promoted obviously from 2004 to 2008, while the traffic, transport, storage and post took the similar trend. And this two industries'competitiveness and influencing regions of cities in Hebei Province was lower relatively, and had no significant changes.Finally, based on Base on the comparative advantage, the suggestion to promote producer services division is that:Beijing should focus on information transmission, computer services and software, financial intermediation, leasing and business services; Tianjin, Qinhuangdao, Tangshan and Cangzhou should focus on traffic, transport, storage and post; Langfang and Baoding should focus on scientific research, technical services and geography prospecting; Shijiazhuang should focus on traffic, transport, storage and post and wholesale and retail trades.
