In resent years, with the development of research on wireless communication, many new techonologies are widely applied in different areas. Wide Band Wireless communication technologies especially emerge with a rapid speed and gradually become main trend of future wireless communication, because of its integrated wideband and wireless. As the"last mile"wideband wireless access technology, WiMAX become the focus of commercial application, due to its anti-multipath, high access rate and its supports of multi-antnnas and space time coding, so as to promote the capacity and rate. In this thesis we research on the WiMAX system applied with multi-antnnas and space time coding using Matlab as simulation tool, and finally finish the following work:1) Introduce Physical Layer of WiMAX, model of MIMO system, the computing of MIMO capacity, space time coder and multi-antnnas in details, which deepen the understanding of WiMAX system and its multi-antnnas and space time coding.2) Figure out the model of WiMAX system based on the 802.16-2004 Wireless MAN-OFDM specification. Build the platform of WiMAX system using Matlab and simulate the performance of WiMAX system with different channel models, bandwidths and modulations.3) Analyze the reason why MIMO can get capacity gain and give the methods of computing the MIMO capacity with waterfilling and average allocation of power. Use Matlab to simulate MIMO capacity with distinct antnnas, and with different power allocation: waterfilling and average allocation.4) Simulate the simplest space time coding----Alamouti coding, and analyze the reason why space time coding can get diversity gain. Expend the space time coding to multi-transmit multi-receive antnnas, and make simulations.5) Apply the multi-antnnas and space time coding technology in the built platform of WiMAX. Simulate the performance of WiMAX with Alamouti, 2 transmit 2 receive, multiple transmit single receive and multiple transmit multiple receive, and at last analyze the results.
